MY PRIORITIES
My priorities reflect a commitment to strong public education, responsible decision making, and ensuring students remain at the heart of the decisions we make. As West Kelowna continues to grow, our schools must support student success today while planning responsibly for the future.
1. Student Success, Opportunity & Future Ready Skills
Preparing students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need for school, work, post-secondary education, and life.

Every student deserves meaningful opportunities to succeed and build their future. I will support strong learning outcomes and multiple pathways, recognizing that success looks different for every student. Academic, trades, business, technology, and post-secondary pathways should provide students with meaningful choices for their future. I will also advocate for practical financial literacy, including budgeting, income taxes, investment fundamentals, and expanded dual-credit opportunities with local post-secondary institutions.

I have heard concerns from parents and students about understanding the K–9 Provincial Proficiency Scale and what it means for academic progress. I will advocate for clear and meaningful student reporting that helps families understand achievement, progress, and areas for growth, while bringing concerns about the current reporting system forward to the Province.
2. Planning for West Kelowna's Growth & Infrastructure Advocacy
Planning responsibly for growing enrolment, safe transportation, and the school infrastructure West Kelowna needs.

West Kelowna's growth requires long term planning and strong advocacy. I will advocate for provincial investment in permanent classrooms and facility expansions to address overcrowding and reduce reliance on aging portables.Â
I will also support safe, reliable student transportation and collaboration with the City of West Kelowna on safer walking and cycling routes around schools. Practical opportunities to improve recycling and composting in schools should also be explored in partnership with local programs.Â

Strong Schools. Strong Communities.
3. Collaborative & Cost Effective Before and After School Care
Supporting accessible and sustainable childcare through consultation, responsible use of spaces, and careful stewardship of education funding.Â

Families need reliable before and after school care that is accessible and sustainable. I support exploring opportunities to make better use of available school spaces outside of instructional hours. Any expansion should involve meaningful consultation with families, school district employees and their representatives, community partners, and district administration before decision are made. I will support solutions that respect collective agreements, protect public school assets, make responsible use of provincial funding, and do not divert resources from classromm learning.
4. Safe, Supportive & Inclusive Schools
Creating learning environments where students feel safe, supported, respected, and ready to learn.

Student well-being and learning go hand and hand. I will support efforts that strengthen student safety, address bullying and online bullying, and improve access to mental health, mentorship, and prevention supports. I will also advocate for appropriate classroom supports, including Educational Assistants and specialized learning staff, and for healthy learning environments that consider heat, air quality, and wildfire smoke. Clear and consistent personal device guidelines should support focused classrooms while maintaining appropriate emergency communication for families.
5. Truth & Reconciliation in Action
Meaningful relationships and culturally responsive education that honours Indigenous voices.

Truth and Reconciliation requires more than statements of commitment. I will support meaningful relationships and respectful collaboration with the syilx Okanagan Nation and local Knowledge Keepers, along with culturally responsive education, and continued learning that honours Indigenous voices, histories, and perspectives. I will also advocate for Indigenous education resources that reflect actual student and program needs.
6. Fiscal Responsibility & Management Accountability
Responsible stewardship that considers actual needs, costs, and outcomes while keeping resources focused on students.

My finance and organizational leadership experience has taught me the importance of asking questions, examining evidence, and understanding the long-term impact of decisions. I will support budgeting that considers actual needs and costs, along with careful scrutiny of spending, and administrative expenses, while protecting resources that directly support students and classrooms. When available funding does not meet identified needs, those pressures should be clearly understood and communicated. I will also support transparent budgeting, meaningful public consultation, and responsible oversight of programs and funding intended to benefit students. students.
MY COMMITMENT
I will listen. Ask questions. Examine the evidence. Make decisions in the best interests of students. Be accountable.
